Laundry does not have to eat up your entire afternoon. With a few smart habits, you can cut your laundry routine in half — and maybe even enjoy it.
1. Sort as you go. Keep three small hampers in your room: one for lights, one for darks, and one for delicates. When it is time to wash, everything is already sorted.
2. Pre-treat stains immediately. A quick dab of stain remover on a fresh spill saves you from scrubbing later. Keep a pen-style stain remover in your bag for emergencies.
3. Do not overload the machine. It seems counterintuitive, but stuffing the washer slows the cycle and leaves clothes less clean. Aim for about three-quarters full.
4. Use the right cycle. Most clothes do not need a heavy-duty wash. A normal or eco cycle is faster and gentler on fabrics.
5. Shake clothes before drying. A quick shake straight from the washer helps items dry faster and with fewer wrinkles.
6. Fold warm. Clothes fold more easily when they are slightly warm. Pull them from the dryer just before the cycle ends and fold immediately.
7. Batch your loads. Instead of washing one outfit at a time, save up for a full load. Fewer cycles means less time overall.
At Laundry House, our high-speed machines help too — a full wash and dry cycle takes just 35 minutes. Combine that with these tips and you will never dread laundry day again.
